The Pullman Regional Medical Center is encouraging people to get tested for HIV at the medical center on June 24, National HIV Testing Day. One-quarter of the one million Americans estimated to be living with HIV do not realize they are infected, according to the Centers for Disease Control. The majority of sexually transmitted HIV infections spread by people who are unaware of their infection estimates the Centers for Disease Control. The Department of Health and Human Services and the Centers for Disease Control sponsor National HIV Testing Day events across the United States. The Centers for Disease Control recommends routine HIV screenings at health care settings for people 13 to 64.

More information on HIV testing is available at www.hivtest.org or through calling 800-000-000.
